Drexel Law Diversity Week Award Reception March 6

Few lawyers earn their living defending bullied children, but any one of us may be called upon to do this. Perhaps a colleague's child, or our own, is a target. The situation can be heart-wrenching. As a lawyer, you can do something. "How to Litigate a School Bullying Case," designed by the Public Interest Section, will enable you hone your lawyering skills to advocate for children who have been bullied. The Young Lawyers Division will present an Evening of Comedy that Cares on Thursday, May 9 at Helium Comedy Club with comedian Adam Ferrara, star of hit TV shows including "Top Gear" and "Rescue Me."

Ferrara is an acclaimed comedian, who starred on the Emmy-nominated hit FX show "Rescue Me" and appeared opposite Kevin James in the theatrical feature "Paul Blart: Mall Cop." A regular comedian on various hit talk shows including "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Show with David Letterman" and "The View and Rachael Ray," Ferrara has been dubbed "hilarious" by "Entertainment Weekly" and is a two-time nominee for best male stand-up by the American Comedy Awards.

The event includes open bar and a buffet dinner. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Helium Comedy Club is located at 2031 Sansom St. The early bird deadline to purchase tickets is Thursday, April 25. UPS General Counsel McClure is March 11 Quarterly Meeting Speaker

Teri Plummer McClure, senior vice president of legal, compliance, audit & public affairs and general counsel and corporate secretary at UPS, will be the keynote speaker at the Philadelphia Bar Association's Monday, March 11 Quarterly Meeting and Luncheon.

The Bar Association will also present the Justice Sonia Sotomayor Diversity Award to the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group. The award publicly acknowledges, recognizes and honors an individual or entity that has demonstrated a strong commitment, and has made a substantial contribution, to diversity and promoting full and equal participation and inclusion in the legal profession. Also at the event, Immediate-Past Chancellor John E. Savoth will be presented with a gold box, an exact replica of the one presented to Andrew Hamilton for his defense of John Peter Zenger in 1735. The gold box is presented annually to the immediate-past Chancellor and is inscribed with the message "acquired not by money, but by character."

In her role at UPS, McClure oversees all ethics and compliance, audit and legal initiatives in more than 220 countries and territories where the company does business, and advises and supports the UPS Board of Directors. McClure also leads UPS worldwide public affairs and government relations efforts advocating increased global trade, stronger business competitiveness, and improved economic growth worldwide, among many other public policies.
