Sections keep Association members abreast of developments in substantive areas of the law. Section membership is always open to all regular members of the Association
. Sections elect their own officers, have their own bylaws, which define their purpose and structure, and fund their own activities via the collection of individual section dues. Each section maintains a degree of autonomy, but their activities must be conducted in accordance with Article IX
of the Association's bylaws
and with the approval of the Board of Governors

Committees exist to meet specific needs of the Association. Standing committees are specifically provided for and their purposes are outlined in Article VII
of the bylaws of the Association. Special committees may be created as directed by the Board of Governors or the Chancellor
. Association members are appointed to serve on committees by the Chancellor. Interested attorneys can volunteer for committee service
by contacting the Chancellor or the committee chair

All regular members of the Association who have not reached their 37th birthday or who have been practicing less than three years are automatically members of the Young Lawyers Division. The YLD is managed by its Executive Committee
, which serves its 2,800 members and oversees the activities of more than 30 committees in the areas of public service, law-related education and service to the legal community. YLD members enjoy opportunities to network and participate in activities that contribute to their personal and professional enrichment. YLD members are invited to subscribe to the Philadelphia Bar Association's YLD list serve
, allowing them to participate in discussions through an e-mail list.
