On July 27, 1995, the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association unanimously approved and adopted the Statement of Goals of Philadelphia Lawyers and Legal Departments for the Retention and Promotion of Women (the Goals), accompanied by the report of the Committee on Women in the Profession.

The product of more than 18 months and the contributions of several Bar sections and committees, the Goals were unanimously approved by the Board of Governors and were well received by many firms in the Philadelphia legal community. Taken together and implemented with the Statement of Goals for Increasing Minority Representation and Retention, these documents are intended to open doors and attain a greater diversity of individuals for the greater good of both the signatory firms and the clients they serve.

Firms which have reviewed and considered the Statement of Goals of Philadelphia Law Firms and Legal Departments for the Retention and Promotion of Women are urged to join many other Philadelphia firms in becoming a signatory in support of this Statement and to share their thoughts on the issues it addresses.
