Increasing access to our courts and community by providing free legal services to low-income people with physical disabilities and deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the five-county Philadelphia region.

Income guidelines: 150% Federal poverty guidelines; Geographic guidelines: Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery counties. The clinic does not serve persons whose only disability is mental illness, alcoholism, or drug addiction. The clinic does not handle criminal or personal injury matters.

By phone: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Message can be left on voice mail at any time.) Staff screen potential cases for income eligibility and legal merit. Clients whose cases qualify for Legal Clinic assistance are represented by legal clinic attorneys or referred to volunteer attorneys and paralegals who represent them on a pro bono basis.

Legal advice and representation for people with disabilities in the following areas: Consumer Protection; Advanced Planning Documents; Family Law; Housing; and Benefits.

LCD’s team of in-house attorneys and dedicated core of volunteer attorneys provide advice and advocacy, helping clients overcome legal obstacles that would otherwise affect their independence, health and quality of life. LCD offers direct services in a community-based setting at Associated Services for the Blind, Inglis House, and the Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Greater Philadelphia, and has medical legal partnerships at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, and nurse managed health centers through Family Practice and Counseling Network in Philadelphia.

Direct Legal is serviced by staff on child custody, child support.
