Brian Tierney Headlines Federal Bench-Bar Conference June 8
Brian Tierney, Esq., Chief Executive Officer of Philadelphia Media Holdings, LLC, is the featured speaker at the Bar Association Federal Courts Committee's 2007 Federal Bench-Bar Conference on June 8. The program will include dialogue with judges on the federal bench on issues that are important to both the Bench and the Bar. Litigators and judges will spend the morning hearing panel presentations on topics of current interest in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
This year's conference will take place at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market Street. A continental breakfast will be available at 7:45 a.m. with sessions beginning at 8:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon featuring guest speaker Brian Tierney.
The conference will begin with a welcome and opening remarks by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Harvey Bartle, III and Edward G. Biester, III, Chair of the Federal Courts Committee, followed by an introduction to the program by Charles S. Marion, Vice Chair of the Federal Courts Committee. The conference will include three panel discussions and a presentation by the U.S. Attorney on the following topics:
- The Third Circuits Model Civil Jury Instructions and Their Impact on Charging Conferences with U.S District Judge Mary A. McLaughlin, Professor Catherine T. Struve, Alice W. Ballard, Esq., Scott F. Cooper, Esq., and Maria L.H. Lewis, Esq.
- Cracking Down on Identity Theft presented by U.S. Attorney Patrick L. Meehan.
- The New E-Discovery Rules How are They Working in Practice? with U.S. District Judge Berle M. Schiller, Stephen G. Harvey, Esq.
- Dealing with the Difficult Adversary Tips form the Bench and Bar with U.S. District Court Judge Anita B. Brody, U.S Magistrate Judge L. Felipe Restrepo, Butler Buchanan III, Esq., Laurence Z. Shiekman, Esq.
The Pennsylvania Continuing Education Board has approved the conference for 2.5 hours of substantive and .5 hours of ethics CLE credit.
