Levy took up jogging at age 71 and a year later, in 1985, became the first over-70 runner to compete at the Philadelphia Bar Associations annual 5K run. He received a standing ovation at the awards ceremony.
Levy was a founding member of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association (PTLA) and served as the groups president from 1961-63. He was awarded the PTLAs Justice Michael A. Musmanno Award in 1982. The Musmanno award is given annually to an outstanding individual who represents the spirit and ideals of the late Justice Musmanno. He is also a member of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers.
A naval intelligence officer during World War II, Levy served in the Judge Advocate Generals office. Upon his return to Philadelphia, Levy helped start the law firm of Richter, Lord & Levy. A 1936 graduate of Harvard Law, he retired from the practice of law in the 1980s.
