Former Presidential Advisor to Give Keynote Address at Bar Assn. Quarterly Meeting April 5

The Philadelphia Bar Association takes a deep and probing look at policy, politics and the media when Paul Begala, MSNBC political analyst and former presidential advisor, gives the keynote address at the Association’s Spring Quarterly Meeting and Luncheon on Thursday, April 5, at noon, at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue. Begala’s celebrated work as a political analyst, attorney, author, professor, and consultant has marked him with the reputation of being one of the top political minds in the country.

As one of President Clinton’s closest advisors during a time of scandal and political unrest that rocked the nation, Begala became the hot ticket for providing the media with an insider’s perspective into the world of politics. He is a household name at MSNBC where he is a political analyst for The News Hour with Brian Williams and has co-hosted Equal Time with Oliver North. He was appeared on numerous national news programs including Meet the Press, Larry King Live and This Week with Sam and Cokie.

Begala is currently a professor of government at Georgetown University and frequents the lecture circuit. He has lectured at Oxford University, UCLA and the University of Texas. He has participated in symposia at Harvard, Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania.

A respected author, Begala is a contributing editor for George magazine, which he helped to launch with John F. Kennedy, Jr. He is also the author of Is Our Children Learning? -- a fierce look at George W. Bush’s leadership of Texas.

But Begala was regaled as a top political strategist long before he joined forces with the Clinton administration. As one half of the legendary campaign consulting team of Carville and Begala, he was the spine to many successful political campaigns including Governor Robert Casey, Senator Harris Wofford, and Senator Dianne Feinstein. He later ran the Clinton-Gore presidential campaign straight to victory when they brought him on as a senior strategist in 1992.

Tickets to the Quarterly Meeting and Luncheon are now available at $40 for Bar Association members and $45 for the public. For more information, call the Bar Association at 215-238-6300.
