The Award was originated to commemorate and honor the late Louis D. Apothaker, a past president of the Foundation, who took a very active role in the legal profession and the community. The recipient of the award will receive $5,000 and a commemorative crystal. The Award will be presented at a special reception prior to the Foundation's Annual Andrew Hamilton Ball to be held on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Eligible nominees include an individual, individuals as a group, an institution or an organization, for a significant contribution to the pursuit of justice. Although the Bar Foundation is particularly interested in local candidates whose activities have benefited the communities of Philadelphia, nominees who focus on regional, national or international issues will be considered. The nominee can be recognized for a particular achievement, or for a lifetime of work. The nominee may not be a lawyer.
A letter or accompanying materials should detail the reasons for the nomination.
