Young Lawyers to Welcome Citys Young Politicos Sept. 22
PHILADELPHIA Young political candidates will share specifics about their decisions to run for office and the obstacles they have faced during their campaigns at the Philadelphia Bar Associations Young Lawyers Divisions next 2020 Lunchtime Series event on Friday, Sept. 22 in the Associations 1101 Market Street, 11th floor conference center.
The event, open to all Association members, begins at noon with lunch, followed by the panel discussion at 12:30 p.m. Lunch is $7.50 and registration is available online or by contacting Dawn Burger at 215-238-6367 dburger@philadelphiabar.org.
Michael Adler, Anne Dicker, A. Lindsay Doering IV, Larry Farnese, Matthew McClure, Jennifer Nestle and Tony Payton Jr. are scheduled to serve on the panel, with more speakers expected to be announced prior to the event. The panelists will not discuss their individual platforms or races.
Adler was recently elected to a two-year term as a committee person of the 14th Ward in Wynnewood, Lower Merion.
Dicker lost her bid in the recent primary election for the Democratic Partys nomination to serve as State Representative for the 175th District. She took 31 percent of the vote in a three-candidate race.
Doering, an associate with the law firm of Kittredge, Donley, Elson, Fullem, & Embick, LLP, is the Republican candidate for the 182nd State House seat. A member of the YLD, he faces incumbent Babette Josephs in the November election.
An attorney with Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, P.C., Farnese lost his bid for the Democratic nomination for the 182nd house seat to Josephs in the recent Pennsylvania primaries.
Nestle, who practices law with Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, lost her general election race as a Democrat in 2003 for 5th Ward Commissioner in Haverford Township.
The 24-year-old Payton, a Democrat, is running for the 179th State House seat which was vacated due to the retirement of Democrat William W. Rieger, who has held the seat since 1967.
McClure, an associate with Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, is expected to run for the 4th Ward seat in Philadelphia City Council vacated by Michael Nutter.
