Paul N. Minkoff Chosen as 50-Year Club Speaker for Quarterly Meeting
PHILADELPHIA Paul N. Minkoff, a 35-year resident of Glenside, has been designated as the representative speaker for the 50-Year Club at the Philadelphia Bar Association Quarterly Meeting on June 19 at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue. Each year at its June meeting, the Association honors attorneys who have been members for 50, 60, 65 and 70 years.
Minkoff, who was invited by Chancellor Alan M. Feldman to serve as the 50-Year Club spokesman, has served in various positions of leadership with the Association. He was a member of the Board of Governors from 1982-84, served as assistant secretary from 1985-1988 and secretary from 1989-91. He chaired the Civil Procedures Committee in 1978 and was chair of the Bench-Bar Conference in 1981.
I was indeed honored when Alan Feldman invited me to respond on behalf of those members of the Bar who had been practicing for 50, 60 and 70 years and remain active in the our Association, Minkoff said. I must confess that 1956 seems to be a point in time that was just a few years ago. In compressing the past years into the composite professional experiences of those who are being recognized at the Quarterly Meeting, on whose behalf I have been invited to respond, is more challenging than some of the legal issues I have had to confront these past 50 years.
There are 52 attorneys who will be inducted into the 50-Year Club, eight who will be recognized for 60 years of membership, four for 65 years of membership and one who has been a member for 70 years. Tickets to the luncheon are $50 for Association members and $55 for non-members and are available at www.philadelphiabar.org
After graduation from Temple Law School in January of 1954, Minkoff served in the U.S. Army until 1956 when he returned to Philadelphia and joined the firm of Gerber and Galfand. He served as general counsel for Slossman Corporation in Asheville, N.C. from 1959-61. Minkoff joined the Philadelphia firm of Klovsky, Kluby & Harris in 1961 and he continues to practice with that firm as a partner.
Minkoff also has been very active in community affairs. He served as treasurer of the School District Authority for Cheltenham Township from 1984-1994. He was President of the Germantown Jewish Centre from 1971-73 and President of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Philadelphia from 1988-91. He also served as National Vice Chair for the Jewish Council for Public Affairs from 1992-2000.
