Lawyers, Courts to Observe Moment of Silence Sept. 11 at 10 a.m.
Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Allan H. Gordon has asked all Philadelphia law firms, lawyers and support personnel to join with the City of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Common Pleas, Municipal and Traffic Courts in observing a moment of silence on Wednesday, September 11 at 10 a.m. in memory of the victims of last year's attack on America."This is a time to once again pause with the rest of our nation to remember and reflect. As lawyers, judges and servants of the justice system we have a particular obligation to observe this date and renew our commitment to the rule of law and the principles which are enunciated in the sacred documents that were written and adopted in this city," Gordon said.
"Each day as we move forward we need to be inspired and strengthened by the courageous actions of those who answered the call for help on September 11 and in the days, weeks and months that followed. The struggle for peace and security is ongoing. In the face of continuing threats, let us be vigilant but let us also resolve to defend the rule of law, protect our freedoms and renew our faith in our Constitution," the Chancellor concluded.
