Chancellor's Forum on Changing Parameters of Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession, Sept. 10
The 13,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association will present a Chancellor’s Forum, “The Changing Parameters of Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession” on Tuesday, September 10, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Philadelphia Bar Association, 1101 Market St., in the 11th Floor Conference Center. The free event is co-sponsored by the Association’s Corporate In-House Counsel Committee and the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group.
Sandra S. Yamate, Chief Executive Officer of The Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession (“IIPL”), will provide an overview of the work of the organization, one of the newer entities established to devote its energies and focus its efforts at creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. The motto of the organization, established in 2009, is “Real change. Now.” IILP has been asking hard questions and undertaking research and programming aimed at finding answers to those questions.
Yamate will also explain how IILP supplements and supports the diversity leadership offered by groups like the Philadelphia Bar Association, Philadelphia Diversity Law Group, and minority and women’s bar associations, highlighting some of its research findings, and sharing insights into the most recent and cutting-edge diversity and inclusion developments that IILP has been observing within the legal profession.
Other speakers include Sophia Lee, Esq., Chief Counsel – Litigation at Sunoco, Inc., Secretary of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Co-Chair of the Association’s Corporate In-House Counsel Committee, and Co-President of the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group; Wesley R. Payne IV, Esq., Partner at White and Williams LLP, Treasurer of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and Co-President of the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group; and Brennan J. Torregrossa, Esq., Assistant General Counsel at GlaxoSmithKline, and Co-Chair of the Association’s Corporate In-House Counsel Committee. The Moderator of the panel will be Kathleen D.
