New American Citizens to be Welcomed at Dramatic July 1 Ceremony
"Welcome, America!" will become "Welcome TO America!" on Monday, July 1, when the Philadelphia Bar Association welcomes new American citizens at a dramatic naturalization ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in the Ceremonial Courtroom on the ground floor of the U.S. Courthouse, 6th and Market Streets (6th Street entrance), in Philadelphia. The event helps launch observances leading up to Independence Day as part of the city's "Welcome, America!" celebration. Approximately 100 new citizens from about 29 different countries will become naturalized.Presiding over the ceremony will be Judge Eduardo C. Robreno of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Judge John Younge of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas will be the distinguished guest speaker.
Remarks on behalf of the Philadelphia Bar Association will be delivered by Jeffrey M. Lindy, Esq., Chair of the Board of Governors of the Association. Motions will be presented by Norman McCall, District Adjudications Officer, and Aida Ayala, Naturalization Clerk, will administer the oath. A response to the Court on behalf of the new citizens will be announced.
