Philadelphia Bar Association Real Property Section members traded their briefcases and pens for tool belts and nail guns on Wednesday June 27, as they volunteered to assist Habitat for Humanity with a project at 1900 Morse Street in the Temple University area of Philadelphia. The Real Property Section has deep ties with Habitat for Humanity. Section member Judy Berkman provides pro bono assistance to Habitat through Regional Legal Services, as does section member Eileen Quigley at Ballard Spahr.
Nearly 2 billion people around the world live in slum housing and more than 100 million are homeless. The mission of Habitat for Humanity is to help eliminate poverty by providing simple, decent shelter to those in need. The organization relies on volunteers to assist in the construction or refurbishment of these homes.
