Bar Assn. Seeks Director of Public Relations/External Communications
The Philadelphia Bar Association is seeking a Director of Public Relations/External Communications. Individual will have overall responsibility for external communications and public affairs for the Philadelphia Bar Association including public relations, special publications, preparation of speeches, brochures, media relations, direct mail efforts, membership promotion, community relations and community outreach.
This person will be the Bar Associations creative director, generating ideas, suggesting strategies, devising themes and maintaining creative control over the marketing and public affairs process and all of its components.
The person will assume total public relations responsibility for the Association and its affiliates directing an in-house staff; generating story ideas; developing campaigns and campaign components (news releases, etc.); writing speeches, columns, op-ed pieces and remarks for Bar leaders; maintaining communications with members of the news media; overseeing news conferences and media events; arranging meetings, where appropriate, with members of the news media; administering the Associations Media Assistance and Resource Service and serving as liaison to the news media; monitoring stories in the newspaper, on radio and television, and on the Internet and suggesting strategies and reactions; maintaining the Associations clipping service; advising the Bar leaders regarding issues, media strategies, public opinion, etc. and, where appropriate, suggesting action.
The individual shall be experienced in the field of public relations/ communications/ marketing and shall have at least an undergraduate degree from a recognized university. Salary is negotiable.
