Philadelphia Bar Association Military Assistance Program

The Military Assistance Program (MAP) is designed to help those in our community who have placed their lives on the line for our freedom. MAP helps:

1. Active duty military personnel and their families.

MAP volunteer attorneys will make sure that members of our armed forces have their legal affairs in order and their rights protected while they are deployed. Volunteer attorneys will also help those on the home front, assisting family members of deployed soldiers with their legal problems while their loved ones are serving our country.

MAP provides legal assistance to active duty military personnel and their families in estate planning, employment, consumer, debtor/creditor, landlord-tenant, immigration and taxes. MAP also provides assistance with Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act, Uniformed Service Employment and Reemployment Rights Act and Servicemen’s Group Life Insurance issues.

2. Veterans of our Armed Forces.

In the transition to civilian life, our returning veterans often face problems with compensation, discharge, health care and other issues. MAP volunteer attorneys will help veterans who cannot afford or do not have access to the legal services they need.

In addition to the above areas of the law, MAP provides legal assistance in veterans’ service related compensation, VA health care and discharge upgrades.

Help is just a telephone call away.

MAP can be reached Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
