RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF THE CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY OF THE COMMITTEE OF SEVENTY

WHEREAS, for 100 years the Committee of 70 has worked to advance good government in the Philadelphia region; and

WHEREAS, the Committee of 70 has worked in monitoring elections to shaping public policy, from educating the electorate to refereeing political disputes; and

WHEREAS, the Committee of 70 has long been recognized as the Philadelphia region's preeminent political watchdog organization; and

WHEREAS, the Committee of 70 has stood for excellence and honesty in government, free and fair elections and for educating citizens about how government functions, investigating possible changes, and demanding better solutions; and

WHEREAS, Philadelphia lawyers have long been represented on the Committee of 70's membership;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Philadelphia Bar Association, the oldest chartered metropolitan bar association in the country, recognizes and salutes the good works of the Committee of 70 and congratulates the organization upon reaching this milestone event.
