RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PRO BONO TASK FORCE TO STREAMLINE THE PUBLIC'S ACCESS TO PRO BONO LEGAL SERVICES

WHEREAS, in December 2001, Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Allan Gordon empanelled a Pro Bono Task Force to comprehensively evaluate the need for, and the delivery of, pro bono legal services to the needy, disadvantaged and disenfranchised in Philadelphia;

WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force, after extensive research and investigation, submitted a Report, including Findings and Recommendations ("the Report") to the Board of Governors on June 27, 2002;

WHEREAS, the Board of Governors, after discussion and upon oral motion made and duly seconded, accepted the Report for comment and study;

WHEREAS, the Pro Bono Task Force recommended streamlining the public's access to pro bono legal services;

WHEREAS, the Board of Governors recognizes the importance of creating and streamlining the process for people seeking pro bono services;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Philadelphia Bar Association approves, accepts and supports this recommendation and urges the Philadelphia Bar Foundation to continue its web site development as well as the pursuit of other technological or communication opportunities available to facilitate linking pro bono attorneys to clients in need of service.
