RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SENATE RESOLUTION 160 OR COMPARABLE LEGISLATION TO UNDERTAKE A STATEWIDE STUDY OF MEDIATION AND OTHER FORMS OF DISPUTE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Senate of the Pennsylvania General Assembly has formulated and adopted a legislative resolution (Senate Resolution 160), that was recently submitted to the Pennsylvania House, for the purpose of establishing a Joint Committee, under the aegis of the Joint State Government Commission, to study the use of ADR within the Commonwealth and, following such study, to make recommendations to the General Assembly regarding ADR in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the proposed study of ADR will benefit members of the Philadelphia Bar Association and their clients.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Philadelphia Bar Association, supports Senate Resolution 160, or comparable legislation, to establish a statewide study of mediation and other ADR processes.

AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chancellor or his designee is authorized to take whatever steps are necessary to communicate the views of the Philadelphia Bar Association to the appropriate members of the General Assembly and to otherwise effectuate this resolution.
