RESOLUTION REGARDING THE
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY BIKE-A-THON
WHEREAS, many members of the Philadelphia Bar Association have been afflicted with some kind of cancer, or have or know of family members, colleagues or friends who have been so afflicted; and
WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society has sponsored an annual Bike-A-Thon for many years for the purpose of raising funds for cancer research, education and other purposes; and
WHEREAS, many members of the Association participated in the American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon, departing from the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia and riding to Lenape Park in Egg Harbor, New Jersey, last year either as part of law firm teams or riding on their own with no team sponsor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Philadelphia Bar Association hereby authorizes the formation of an Association-sponsored team to participate in the American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chancellor of the Association shall convene a special committee to investigate appropriate methods and procedures for establishing and supporting the Association-sponsored Bike-A-Thon team.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the special committee formed for this purpose shall report to the Board of Governors with its recommendations at its earliest opportunity for consideration and further action by the Board.
