Ladov to Discuss 2009 Plans
at Dec. 8 Annual Meeting
Service is nothing new to Sayde J. Ladov. It's practically in her DNA. In her inaugural address as the new Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association at its Dec. 8 Annual Meeting, Ladov hopes to infuse this spirit across the membership. Her resume attests to her own career as a dedicated leader. As a shareholder of Abrahams, Lowenstein & Bushman, she served on the management committee that helped facilitate a merger with Offit Kurman, a Baltimore-based law firm where she currently serves as a principal.
Ladov will touch on other topics in her address, including her commitment to the construction of the family court building. She is also committed to increasing the accessibility of the Bar Association through improved information technology.
Ladov also wants to create, staff and implement help desks at Philadelphia Municipal Court and the Court of Common Pleas Family Division to increase access to justice for pro se litigants.
She is also looking to broaden the concept of diversity within the Association.
In addition to serving as Chancellor Elect this past year, she has been elected to numerous positions at the Philadelphia Bar Association, including Secretary (2002-2004) and Assistant Secretary (1999-2001). She also served on the Board of Governors from 1996-1998. In 2004, she served as chair of the Women in the Profession Committee and as chair of the Lawyer Referral and Information Service from 1996 to 1999 and 2005 to 2006 and 1996-99. She was also appointed to co-chair the Bar Association's 2005 Bench-Bar Conference. She has held similar leadership positions with the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, including co-chairing the 2008 Hamilton Gala, serving as a trustee (1999-2003, 2007-2008) and chairing one of the most successful galas in 1999. She also served several years on the Board of Directors for Philadelphia V.I.P.
A former assistant district attorney from the Bronx, New York, Ladov's professional associations include both the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Associations. She also has served as chancellor of the Tau Epsilon Rho Law Society, which was later renamed the Louis Brandeis Law Society, and currently serves on its executive committee. She received her undergraduate and law degrees from Fordham University.
In addition to several court appointments, Ladov is a well-known media commentator and has written and presented at numerous courses and lectures. She and her husband, David L. Ladov, a senior partner at Cozen & O’Connor, have two daughters, Hillary and Lauren.
Former Public Interest Section Chair Tsiwen Law will be presented with the Wachovia Fidelity Award at the Annual Meeting Luncheon. The meeting will also include the presentation of the inaugural Chancellor's Diversity Award to Nolan N. Atkinson Jr.

Deadline to Return Ballots
for Bar Election is Dec. 3
Bar Association members wishing to vote by mail have until Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. to return their ballots to Bar Association headquarters. Ballots received after that time will not be counted. Anyone not returning their ballot in a timely fashion may still vote in person on Monday, Dec. 8 at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia, Broad and Walnut streets. The election will be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting Luncheon on Monday, Dec. 8 at the Park Hyatt. There being no opposition for the following offices, a unanimous ballot will be cast for these individuals who will be elected to the offices as noted: Vice Chancellor, Rudolph Garcia; Secretary, Kathleen D. Wilkinson; Assistant Secretary, Sophia Lee; Treasurer, Jeffrey M. Lindy; and Assistant Treasurer, Joseph A. Prim Jr.
Balloting will be held for candidates seeking seats on the Board of Governors and Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee. Balloting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the ballroom level of the Park Hyatt.
The seven candidates seeking five seats on the Board of Governors are Danielle Banks, Jeffrey Campolongo, Phyllis Horn Epstein, Regina Foley, Michael Shaffer, Sean Sullivan and Stacey Tees.
There are nine candidates running for seven seats on the Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee. The candidates are Brandon S. Bruce, Alicia A. Garcia, Alexis Arena, Richard Vanderslice, Rachel Kopp, Christopher M. Guth, Justin S. Moriconi, Edward Scott Goldis and Alyson Oswald.
